Suzanne was born in Chicago, Il. USA and currently resides in Oregon State. She has worked in the comic book/animation biz for quite a few years, working on titles like "Fright Night" , "The Twilight Zone" and "Elfquest". Once she migrated out West, she decided to stop working on other peoples' stuff and concentrate on her own. She works in a variety of media, from painting, to print-making and sculpting. Artist's Statement "In our overlit cultural Paradise there is little place for darkness. Our demons are Disneyfied, violence is cartoonish, and death is the ultimate faux pas. Yet images of darkness retain their power, and it is these I intend to explore. The icon that, in dim light, seems unholy and evil. The guardian statues of the dead which take on the atmosphere of the very darkness from which they are supposed to protect us. The numinosity of these images drives me to create a place for those of us who love the shade and the shadow, and who would be alone with our thoughts when we will. |

Von Tipton R.I.P Westgate is honoured to bring the magnificent works of Von Tipton to the World Wide Web! See my personal favourite just below! |

"Weary
Spectre"

"Foxfire"
Oil on masonite, 3' x 4'

Born in Donaldson, GA. USA., in 1946. A primarily self-taught artist, Tipton's works have been widely exhibited and have won many prestigious awards, including "First Place" at the 1995 World Horror Convention. The creator of hundreds of paintings and prints, Tipton continues to be inspired by his earlier, childhood influences such as Bram Stoker and Edgar Allan Poe Artist's Statement "I became interested in art and became a painter in order to give a tangible result to my own imagination and ideas. I just wanted to express myself. I feel that an artist should never limit oneself to only the things that one can see or touch. Art served as a catalyst for my ideas..I believe that this came from the rich and happy childhood that I had. You can see in my art, some of the folk stories and ghost tales that I heard as an impressionable youngster. These stories have stuck with me through the years and often show themselves in my work." |

William Corey
|
Westgate is privileged to be the exclusive exhibitor of the unique and wonderful "Domed" wall sculptures of William Corey. These are unusual works comprised of castings, scrolls, runes, cloth, hardened sand and other materials, beautifully finished in museum quality, gilded wood archival frames and capped with what he calls "bubble glass" or Dome Glass which both serves to protect and enhance the effect of the relief. Each piece is one of a kind and he gladly accepts custom commissions. Each piece comes with a little booklet describing the technique. |

"William Corey resides in Kenner, Louisiana where he is a practicing Magician/Entertainer. His forthcoming book, "The Reality of Illusion" will be available shortly. Meanwhile, you can visit Mr. Corey's website by going to Regain the Magic of Lost Worlds.. Artist's Statement "I have infused my abilities in art, my observations of life and interests in the arcane into what I call 'Skullture', a multi-textural scape which uses the human skeleton form (or pieces thereof) within a work of art. They are all hand-crafted, and as such, positioning and placements of objects, collation and presentation will change with each piece. I hope that you enjoy my works. As with all of my works, contemplation is encouraged. |
